About the author of The Hidden Energies Behind Feng Shui
James Frank Loretta began both his career in education and his pursuit of the martial arts in 1969. A journey begins with but one step but when he began his forty years ago, he had no idea then that it was a journey that would eventually lead him to write The Hidden Energies Behind Feng Shui.
A Feng Shui Journey Through the Martial Arts
His practice of the martial arts and his curiosity and thirst for knowledge led him to expand his studies into alternative healing, Chinese medicine, shiatsu, meridian therapy, esoteric studies and finally feng shui. In the 1980s, he rounded out his experience with travel to Japan, Okinawa, Europe and India. Having achieved the rank of 5th Degree Black belt in Okinawan Gojuryu under Master R. Choji Taiani, he left his karate dojo of 25 years in the capable hands of his partner and friend to move on to the study of Chinese martial arts with his current teacher, Master Keith Mazza. Today he continues his study and practice of traditional wing chun kung fu and Chinese weaponry and teaches t’ai chi and chi gong (qigong).
Mr. Loretta earned his B.A. degree in English from LaSalle College (LaSalle University) and his Master’s in Student Personel Services from Glassboro College (Rowan University). Having been first a teacher of English for nineteen years and then a Student Assistance Counselor in the final years of his career, he retired from education in 2006. He resides in New Jersey with his wife and now pursues his varied interests. He may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applying the principles of discipline and character building he came to believe in through his practice of the martial arts, Mr. Loretta had great success in the classroom as both a teacher in three small school districts and later as a mental health and substance abuse counselor in the three high schools of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. In his final years in education, he won local, state and national recognition for his unique application of feng shui in an In School Support Program for students with mental, emotional and disciplinary problems. In 2004, he won a national award for his successful use of feng shui in the traditional school setting. He was guest speaker at the New Jersey State and National Student Assistance Conventions in 2005 and 2006, respectively, where he spoke on the hidden energies behind feng shui and why this ancient earth science works in schools.
Mr. Loretta has been featured in the Courier Post and The Philadelphia Inquirer and has been published in Black Belt Magazine, The Student Assistance Journal, and Qi Journal where his book The Hidden Energies Behind Feng Shui is running in serial form 2010 through 2012.
